Notifications Plugin — Ori Discord Bot

Ori’s notification plugin sends alerts to your Discord server when Twitch streamers go live or YouTube creators upload new videos. Notifications arrive in under 10 seconds — faster than most Discord bots — because Ori uses platform webhooks, not polling. Pick a creator, pick a channel, and Ori handles the rest. No slash commands. Free for all servers.

Each notification feed monitors one creator on one platform. You can configure up to 10 feeds per server, each posting to a different channel with different ping settings and custom messages. Every notification includes a rich embed with the stream or video title, a direct link, and the creator’s avatar.

  1. Open the Ori dashboard at oribot.org
  2. Select your server
  3. Click Plugins in the sidebar
  4. Find Notifications and click the toggle to enable it
  5. Click into Notifications to open its settings
  6. Click Add Feed
  7. Select the platform — YouTube or Twitch
  8. Enter the creator’s name or channel URL — Ori resolves and verifies the creator automatically
  9. Select the Discord channel where notifications should post
  10. Optionally configure a ping — none, @everyone, or a specific role
  11. Choose default or custom message style
  12. Pick an embed color — defaults to the platform color (red for YouTube, purple for Twitch)
  13. Click Save — Ori starts monitoring immediately

Choose between YouTube and Twitch. Each feed monitors one creator on one platform.

  • YouTube — triggers on new video uploads
  • Twitch — triggers when the streamer goes live

Enter the creator’s username or channel URL. Ori resolves the creator automatically and shows a confirmation card with their avatar and follower/subscriber count. If the creator can’t be found, Ori shows an error.

Select the Discord channel where notifications should appear. Text channels and announcement channels are supported.

Configure who gets pinged when a notification fires:

  • None — no ping, just the notification message
  • @everyone — pings all server members
  • Role — pings a specific role (select from the dropdown)
  • Default — uses a platform-specific template:
    • YouTube: "{creator} uploaded a new youtube video!\n{url}"
    • Twitch: "{creator} is now live on Twitch!\n{url}"
  • Custom — write your own message using variables

Use these variables in custom messages:

VariableWhat it outputsExample
{creator}Creator’s display namexQc
{title}Stream or video titleLate night gaming w/ chat
{url}Direct link to contenthttps://twitch.tv/xqc
{game}Game or category (Twitch)Fortnite
{category}Same as gameFortnite
{thumbnail}Thumbnail image URL(URL)

Variables resolve automatically when the notification fires. {game} and {category} are identical — use whichever you prefer.

Each notification includes a rich embed with a colored left border. Defaults to the platform color (red for YouTube, purple for Twitch). Change it to any hex color from the dashboard.

Ori uses platform webhooks — not polling. When a creator goes live on Twitch or uploads to YouTube, the platform pushes an event to Ori’s webhook endpoint. Ori processes it and posts to your Discord channel, typically in under 10 seconds. This is faster than bots that poll APIs on intervals.

  • Maximum feeds per server: 10
  • One creator per feed (create multiple feeds for multiple creators)
  • Notification history retained for 30 days
  • Duplicate notifications are suppressed within 24 hours (same creator + same content)
  • Ori needs Send Messages and Embed Links permissions in the target channel

Ori’s notification plugin cannot monitor Kick streams. Only Twitch and YouTube are currently supported.

Ori’s notification plugin cannot filter by game or category. Every live event or upload from the monitored creator triggers a notification. There is no way to only notify for specific games.

Ori’s notification plugin cannot send DMs. Notifications are posted to a server channel only.

Ori’s notification plugin cannot detect when a stream ends. Only go-live events trigger notifications. There is no “stream ended” alert.

Ori’s notification plugin cannot notify for YouTube live streams. YouTube feeds only trigger on new video uploads, not live streams.

Ori’s notification plugin cannot monitor more than 10 creators per server. If you need more, consider using a dedicated notification bot alongside Ori.

Ori’s notification plugin cannot guarantee delivery if Discord is down. If Discord’s API is unavailable when a notification fires, the message may be lost.

Notifications aren’t appearing

Check that:

  1. The notifications plugin is enabled in the dashboard
  2. The feed shows a green status indicator (not red/error)
  3. Ori has Send Messages and Embed Links permissions in the target channel
  4. The creator is actually live or has uploaded — check their platform page directly

The creator can’t be found when I type their name

Try using the full channel URL instead of just the username. For YouTube, the channel URL is more reliable than the display name since YouTube handles can differ from channel names.

I’m getting duplicate notifications

Ori deduplicates within a 24-hour window. If you’re seeing duplicates, the creator may have gone offline and back online, which counts as a new stream event on Twitch.

Notifications are delayed

Check Ori’s status at oribot.org/status. Platform webhook delays are outside Ori’s control — if YouTube or Twitch is slow to push events, the notification will be delayed accordingly.

The embed color doesn’t match what I set

Discord renders colors slightly differently across platforms (mobile vs desktop, light vs dark mode). The hex value you set is sent exactly as configured.

Is Ori’s notification plugin free? Yes. Every feature of the notification plugin is free for all servers with no usage limits beyond 10 feeds per server.

How fast are Ori’s go-live notifications? Under 10 seconds from the moment a creator goes live on Twitch or uploads to YouTube. Ori uses platform webhooks — not polling — so notifications arrive as fast as the platform reports them.

What platforms does Ori support for notifications? Twitch and YouTube. Ori delivers go-live alerts for Twitch streams and new upload notifications for YouTube videos.

Can I customize the notification message? Yes. Use the custom message option in the dashboard. Variables like {creator}, {title}, {url}, and {game} are replaced with real values when the notification fires.

How many notification feeds can I have per server? Up to 10 notification feeds per server. Each feed monitors one creator on one platform.

Can I have multiple feeds for the same creator? Yes. You can create separate feeds for the same creator posting to different channels or with different ping settings.

Do notifications work for VODs or clips? No. YouTube feeds trigger on new uploads only. Twitch feeds trigger on live events only. Neither monitors VODs, clips, or shorts.
